Why Roam Haul exists
An 800-fill-power down bag rated to −2°C costs around AUD 450 at a retail chain in Australia. The same specification, from the same class of factory, lands at your door for a lot less if nobody in the middle is paying for shopfronts. That gap is the whole business.
What we actually do
We are not a brand with a factory. We are a small operation that reads each maker’s spec sheet and product cards line by line, and publishes what we find, including the places where a maker’s own figures disagree. Every bag on this site has its fill power, fill weight in grams, total weight and the maker’s temperature figures on the product page, plus the shell fabric and packed size wherever the maker publishes them. Most listings in this price range do not tell you those numbers. That is the difference we are selling.
What we are honest about
- Delivery takes 10-20 business days after dispatch. It says so on every product page.
- We are a new store. We do not have a decade of reviews. What we have is published specifications you can check against any brand you like.
- Our temperature ratings come from the manufacturer, not from an EN/ISO 23537 lab test. Sea to Summit, Kathmandu and Macpac pay for that testing; our makers publish their own figures instead (Aegismax says it follows the EN 13537 method). Compare on fill weight and fill power instead — those are measurable, and we publish them.
- If a bag does not match the numbers we published, send it back at our cost and we will refund you in full.
