Boundless Voyage's Ti2042C is a 1,000 ml titanium pot with a 500 ml pan that closes over it, about 179 g for both (maker's figure). Both are TA1 titanium with a 0.4 mm wall and no coating.
The pot is 140 mm across and 70 mm tall, so it sits steady on a stove and you can eat straight from it. The handles fold flat and come off for cleaning, and the set packs into a mesh carry bag.
The light way to cook a real meal.
- Best for
- Solo walkers who cook, and light-packing pairs.
- Think twice if
- The pan is bare titanium, not non-stick. Boundless Voyage doesn't give a canister size for this set (its photos show a small canister packed inside); if you want a 230 g canister and a stove inside the pot, the Ti2053C and Ti2110C are the sets it says take one.
179 g all up
A 1 litre pot and a 500 ml pan for about 179 g, with a mesh bag to carry them.
Pan doubles as the lid
Put it over the pot to boil faster, then use it as a plate or frying pan.
Wide, low pot
140 mm across and 70 mm tall: steady on a stove and easy to eat from.
What size pot or mug?
Most hikers only boil water: for dehydrated meals, noodles and hot drinks. Size for how many people you cook for. This one holds 1000 ml.
| Use | Size | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Mug | 300 to 450 ml | Tea, coffee, soup, and a cup of porridge |
| Solo pot | 650 to 900 ml | One person: boil for a dehydrated meal and a drink |
| Pot for two | 1,000 to 1,300 ml | Two people, or proper cooking for one |
Why titanium
It's the lightest metal cookware, it won't rust, and it doesn't taint food. It heats unevenly, so it suits boiling better than frying.
Never heat a double-wall mug
Double-wall mugs keep drinks hot, but the sealed air gap means they must never go on a stove or fire.
Stoves are bought locally
Gas stoves sold in Australia must be certified for use here, so we don't sell them. Pick one up at an Australian outdoor store.
Look after it
Warm water and a soft sponge. Titanium needs no seasoning, and a little discolouration from heat is normal.
