A folding closed-cell foam mat, 186 × 56 × 2 cm, that concertinas to 56 × 13 × 14 cm. With the reflective foil face it's rated R 2.5 and weighs 330 g; without foil it's R 2.1 and 280 g (maker's figures).

Think twice if
2 cm of foam is firm. If you sleep on your side and want cushioning, choose the Self-Inflating Camping Mat or the Inflatable Sleeping Pad.

R-value measures how well a mat stops the ground pulling heat out of you. Higher is warmer, and R-values add up when you stack two mats. This one is R 2.5.

R-values are the makers' own figures, and we say on each page who measured them. The industry test is ASTM F3340; not every maker uses it. A mat under a down bag matters as much as the bag: down underneath you is crushed flat, so below freezing the mat does most of the work.

Which side faces up?
Foil side up reflects body heat back to you in cold weather; foil side down on hot nights.
What does the R-value mean?
It measures how well the mat stops the ground pulling heat out of you. As a rough guide: about 2 for summer, 2 to 4 for three seasons, 4 to 5 for cold nights and frost, and 5 or more on snow. R-values add up, so a foam mat under an inflatable adds its R-value.
Is it noisy?
Some insulated mats rustle when you roll over, because of the reflective layer inside. If it's a concern, the product notes above say what the maker uses inside.
What if it gets a puncture?
Carry the repair patches that come with it. Find the leak by listening, or with soapy water, then clean, dry and patch. Put a groundsheet or footprint under your tent and clear sharp sticks before you pitch.
When will it arrive?
We dispatch in 1–3 business days, then it's 10–20 business days on the way to Australia. There's no warehouse or shopfront in between, which is why it takes longer and costs less. Will my order arrive in one parcel?
Gear from the same maker usually travels together. If your order has gear from more than one maker, it can arrive in two or three parcels, sometimes a few days apart. You'll get an email with a tracking number for every parcel, so you always know what's on the way.
Will I pay duty or GST on delivery?
No. Orders under A$1,000 clear into Australia without additional duty or GST, so there's nothing to pay when your parcel arrives.
What if it isn't right?
You have 30 days from delivery to return it unused and in its packaging. If it's faulty or doesn't match what we published, we pay the return postage and refund in full. See Returns.
