Boundless Voyage's Ti3024D is a 420 ml single-wall mug in TA1 pure titanium, about 77 g (maker's figure). It measures 85 mm across and 87 mm tall, with a folding handle.
Because it's single wall, it can sit straight on a gas stove or over a flame to heat water. It comes with a carry bag. No lid.
One mug for coffee, soup and boiling water.
- Best for
- Coffee and tea on the trail, and a second pot for solo walkers.
- Think twice if
- Single-wall titanium gets hot to hold with a hot drink in it, and drinks cool quickly. There's no lid. For a cup that stays cool to hold, choose a double-wall cup instead.
Straight on the flame
Single-wall titanium, so you can heat water or soup in the mug itself.
Folding handle
The handle folds flat against the side so the mug packs small.
Pure titanium
TA1 titanium doesn't rust, and Boundless Voyage says it's dishwasher safe at home.
What size pot or mug?
Most hikers only boil water: for dehydrated meals, noodles and hot drinks. Size for how many people you cook for. This one holds 420 ml.
| Use | Size | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Mug | 300 to 450 ml | Tea, coffee, soup, and a cup of porridge |
| Solo pot | 650 to 900 ml | One person: boil for a dehydrated meal and a drink |
| Pot for two | 1,000 to 1,300 ml | Two people, or proper cooking for one |
Why titanium
It's the lightest metal cookware, it won't rust, and it doesn't taint food. It heats unevenly, so it suits boiling better than frying.
Never heat a double-wall mug
Double-wall mugs keep drinks hot, but the sealed air gap means they must never go on a stove or fire.
Stoves are bought locally
Gas stoves sold in Australia must be certified for use here, so we don't sell them. Pick one up at an Australian outdoor store.
Look after it
Warm water and a soft sponge. Titanium needs no seasoning, and a little discolouration from heat is normal.
