The Yugu R3.6 is Naturehike's lightweight self-inflating mat: a 3.5 cm core of cut-out 19D high-density foam inside 20D nylon TPU, with a skin-friendly outer fabric. Naturehike rates it R3.6 and suggests it for use down to about −5°C.

Three sizes: mummy 183 × 53 cm (610 g), rectangular 183 × 53 cm (685 g) and rectangular 196 × 65 cm (935 g), all maker's figures. The 183 cm sizes pack to about Φ17 × 29 cm. Yellow.

Foam comfort, air-mat packing.

Best for: Three-season hikers who want the quiet, stable feel of foam, and anyone who has had an air mat go flat in the night.
Think twice if: 3.5 cm is thinner than an air mat, so side sleepers may feel the ground at the hips. It packs bigger than an air mat of similar warmth (about Φ17 × 29 cm). Sea to Summit's Camp SI costs about the same, is warmer on paper (R4.2, ASTM-tested) and 4 cm thick, but weighs more. Store it unrolled with the valve open so the foam keeps its spring.

Open the valve and the 19D foam draws air in; top up with a breath or two. If it gets a hole, the foam still gives some cushioning.

Naturehike cuts the foam core to save weight and bulk: 610 g for the mummy, 685 g for the 183 cm rectangle and 935 g for the large 196 × 65 cm (maker's figures).

How warm a mat do you need?

R-value measures how well a mat stops the ground pulling heat out of you. Higher is warmer, and R-values add up when you stack two mats. This one is R 3.6.

R-values are the makers' own figures, and we say on each page who measured them. The industry test is ASTM F3340; not every maker uses it. A mat under a down bag matters as much as the bag: down underneath you is crushed flat, so below freezing the mat does most of the work.

Questions

Does it need a pump?

No. Unroll it, open the valve and give the foam a few minutes to expand, then close the valve. Add a breath or two if you want it firmer.

What does the R-value mean?

It measures how well the mat stops the ground pulling heat out of you. As a rough guide: about 2 for summer, 2 to 4 for three seasons, 4 to 5 for cold nights and frost, and 5 or more on snow. R-values add up, so a foam mat under an inflatable adds its R-value.

Is it noisy?

Some insulated mats rustle when you roll over, because of the reflective layer inside. If it's a concern, the product notes above say what the maker uses inside.

What if it gets a puncture?

Carry the repair patches that come with it. Find the leak by listening, or with soapy water, then clean, dry and patch. Put a groundsheet or footprint under your tent and clear sharp sticks before you pitch.

When will it arrive?

We dispatch in 1–3 business days, then it's 10–20 business days on the way to Australia. There's no warehouse or shopfront in between, which is why it takes longer and costs less. What if it isn't right?
