An ultralight insulated air pad in three warmths, R 3.5, 4.2 or 7.5 (maker's figures), and three shapes. 10 cm thick (the R 3.5 is 8 cm), 460 to 650 g, in 20D nylon with TPU, with a pump sack and repair patch.
Pick the pad by the coldest ground you'll sleep on.
- Best for
- Hikers who want a warm, light mat under a down bag.
- Think twice if
- Air pads can puncture: use a groundsheet, and carry the repair patch. For zero-worry comfort at camp, the 10 cm self-inflating mat is tougher.
Three warmths
R 3.5 for three seasons, R 4.2 for frost, R 7.5 for winter on snow.
From 460 g
About the weight of a water bottle, and it rolls to the size of one.

Side sleepers stay off the ground (the R 3.5 is 8 cm).
How warm a mat do you need?
R-value measures how well a mat stops the ground pulling heat out of you. Higher is warmer, and R-values add up when you stack two mats. This mat comes in R 3.5, R 4.2 or R 7.5: the table shows which to choose.
| Trip | Overnight low | Look for | Choose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer and warm nights | Above 10°C | R 1 to 2 | R 3.5 or warmer |
| Three seasons | 0 to 10°C | R 2 to 4 | R 3.5 or warmer |
| Cold nights and frost | −5 to 0°C | R 4 to 5 | R 4.2 or warmer |
| Winter and snow | Below −5°C | R 5 and up | R 7.5 |
R-values are the makers' own figures, and we say on each page who measured them. The industry test is ASTM F3340; not every maker uses it. A mat under a down bag matters as much as the bag: down underneath you is crushed flat, so below freezing the mat does most of the work.
The numbers
Taken from the maker's own listing and spec cards for this exact model; anything marked our guide is ours. Where the maker doesn't publish something, the line is left out rather than guessed.
| R-value | R 3.5, R 4.2 or R 7.5 (maker's figures; the maker shows an ASTM F3340-22 test report for the R 7.5 model) |
